Thoughts turn to fishing - Reel Life

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Well it has certainly been a while! Sorry that the blog has been pushed to the back-burner for so long, and it’s great to see some comments from you all. Life has been a little hectic having finally managed to move into a farmhouse we have been renovating - which you can see at www.waterloo-farm.co.uk

However, I have managed to catch a couple of ‘A Passion for Angling‘ fishing shows and with the lighter evenings and brighter mornings I am twitching to get back by the bank side.

I am really not sure when that might be, I need to purchase a rod license first, which brings me onto a plug for the Environment Agency. I received a great email from them a couple of weeks ago, it was the Spring Edition of ‘Reel Life‘. I was very impressed the professionalism of the email, and also the excellent content and material in articles it was promoting. I shall add a couple of blogs about those in due course.

However, in thoughts of turning back to the bank, I would really like to find a venue within a 15-20 minute drive where I can find some decent Tench fishing. I wonder if there is anyone out there who can recommend any?

Cheers, Nigel

Walnut Farm Fisheries - Mirror Carp - May 08What a hoot! It has been over three years since I last went fishing, and my return to the bankside was much over-due.

You will be able to see by the picture of the beautiful Mirror Carp, that it was also not a blank! I really did have a great time, even though there were plenty of beginner mistakes.

Tackle Box Inspection

Old Hair Rigged BoilieWell I finally got a chance to have a better investigation of the tackle box tonight - it’s in a bit of a sorry and disorganised state.

There was even a disintegrating boilie still hair rigged from my last trip, it may even have been the one that caught my last Tench!

Bait Bag from Hell!

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Bait BagHell might be a bit extreme for the bag, but not for the smell!

This is the one item of my fishing gear that is actually in my possession. I did not think I could store this up in my in laws loft, they would have wondered exactly what I was storing up there.

I finally ventured a look inside today, the first time since 21st July 2004. (The last time I went fishing). It was certainly opened with some trepidation, and with me trying to keep my nose as far away as possible from the grand opening. (more…)
