A huge relief for The River Thurne, Hickling Broad, Horsey Mere and also the two Martham Broads as they are not at the moment affected by the deadly algae prymnesium.

Thankfully levels are still below those which can cause a threat to fish stocks yet the situation is being monitored. Local anglers can help and anyone who spots dead, dying or distressed fish are asked to call the Environment Agency emergency line on 0800 80 70 60 as soon as they can.

Well done to Norfolk Anglers Conservation Association (NACA) on being awarded £10,000 by the Environment Agency.

The award is to fund a project to assess the feasibility of sustainable river restoration projects covering the River Wensum at Lyng and at Costessey. The project will also produce outline designs to support The River Wensum Restoration Strategy.

Woo hoo - the rod licence is in the bag! I am officially once again licenced to fish. The online ordering process available from the Environment Agency website was really simple and certainly beats queuing in a Post Office.
