Respect is due to Steve Ridgeon’s huge Carp

HUGE can only be the word used to describe Steve’s Common Carp, weighing in at 44lb!

The monster was caught at Waveney Valley Lakes, and a lovely touch to the story is the fishery Manager, Dave Potter said he thought the fish had died or had been poached as it had not been caught for sometime. I have had spirited fights from Carp at 5lb, so I can understand why it would have taken 30mins to land it.

Apparently the fish was caught on a Nash boilie in the Yew Tree Lake. My personal best Common Carp is 5lb at the moment, and I am more than happy with that! But you never know…

Old Hair Rigged BoilieWell I finally got a chance to have a better investigation of the tackle box tonight - it’s in a bit of a sorry and disorganised state.

There was even a disintegrating boilie still hair rigged from my last trip, it may even have been the one that caught my last Tench!

Bait Bag from Hell!

Bait BagHell might be a bit extreme for the bag, but not for the smell!

This is the one item of my fishing gear that is actually in my possession. I did not think I could store this up in my in laws loft, they would have wondered exactly what I was storing up there.

I finally ventured a look inside today, the first time since 21st July 2004. (The last time I went fishing). It was certainly opened with some trepidation, and with me trying to keep my nose as far away as possible from the grand opening. (more…)
