The Glorious 16th - Coarse Fishing Season Starts!
Monday, June 16th, 2008Well, what a day! My very good friends had their first baby today and my wife and I are really happy and pleased for them.What is also good, is that I will never forget their babies birthday as it falls on June 16th, the official start of the coarse fishing season, at least for rivers.
I can remember sitting at Ringland Lakes at the stroke of midnight and casting the first bait of the new season, magical moments and memories that will always stay with me.
While the close season is not followed on most lakes, I often think that it’s a shame, as the sense of anticipation of the 16th is now lost.
But, the memories of the 16th still linger, and for many who only fish rivers, I am sure it must still be a really special day. Just as it will be for our friends!
