Fishing Books for Coarse, Fly and Sea Angling

If you are like me, then fishing is not just something you do on the at the side of a river, lake or at the beach! I like to read about fishing as well, and I always find it helpful to learn from other anglers far more experienced than me. Apart from the fishing tips and hints, it is also great to read about their exploits and the ‘one that got away’ stories!

Below is a list of the best coarse, fly and sea fishing books by my favourite fishing authors:

TITLECOMMENTSPIC
Sixty Years A Fisherman: The Autobiography of John WilsonIf you like John Wilson you will love this book. A great insight into life of a great Angler! Or as John Wilson would put it,"That's Magic! What a clonker!"
Pike Fishing: The Practice and the Passion by Mick BrownSome call him the 'Duke', I would just call him Mick Brown! However, he does love his Pike and this is a great combination of tips and stories.
John Wilson's 1001 Top Angling TipsI did actually count these fishing tips, and guess what, there were 1001!! (Only joking!)
The Little Book of Fishing TipsNo specific author identified here but I was seduced to buy it by the cover!!
The Beekay Guide to Carp Rigs by Kevin MaddocksNow I have never been a massive Carp man, but I have tried for them and this book on Carp rigs has come in very helpful. Kevin Maddocks is also a bit of a Carp rig 'guru' which helps!
The Secret Carp by Chris YatesYes, the same Chris Yates from a Passion for Angling. Even if you don't like fishing if you ever get a chance to watch one of these vintage programmes they are amazing. So is this book!
Falling in Again: Tales of an Incorrigible Angler by Chris Yates'Incorrigible Angler' just about sums up Chris Yates perfectly. Read this and you will want to jump in a lake to catch that special fish as well...honest
Mr. Crabtree Goes Fishing by Bernard VenablesBernard has been voted as one of the top 10 most influential figures in angling history, and these cartoon fishing stories are just one of the reasons why.
Another Fishing Year: John Wilson's Fishing DiaryWhat a life! Find out what John Wilson gets up to in a typical year of fishing.
50 Fish to Catch Before You Die by John BaileyHhhhmmmm...I better not die just yet then as I have quite a few left. John Bailey is a great fishing author and fisheman.
Catch Carp and Tench with John WilsonI bought this more for the Tench than the Carp, but a good read for both species.
Fishing: Learn from the Tips and Laugh at the Tales by George F MasonGeorge contacted me directly and I was so impressed by the title alone it deserves a place in my favourite fishing books!
101 Golden Rules of Fishing by Rob BeattieA great book for the bathroom. Oh go on, you know what I mean by that, it's a good read on the toilet! Great illustrations and quick anecdotes to dip in and out from. Go on, you know you want a copy too!
