Quite slot of questions about Walnut here. I have been fishing it on and off for about 5 years. Itis a great little water for beginners. By far the most successful method is surface fishing. I tend to use dog biscuits. I dint even bother with controllers. The fish will take so close in that there is no need. I freeline a soaked biscuit or use a baitband for hard ones. With this method you can clean up on the canal or lake. I frequently top 100+ of carp and nearly always catch a couple of doubles. The fish look a bit worse for wear and the venue is not particularly attractive but there is no doubt that if you want lots of easy carp 5-15lb then this is the place to go

The ghost carp record has been broken at Taswood. The current record stands at 41lb 3oz. The fish has been named "lady of the lake"

Happy fishing!!

After a hiatus of 16 years i went down to walnut farm to see if i still enjoyed fishing, i do! i dont think i ever fished anywhere with so many fish and am fairly certain that the majority of the bites i missed were from fish with large mouths, however i still caught 5 species in a day with the smallest being gudgeon and the biggest the ubiquitous carp to about 2lb. i did hook into something much larger and having seen the fish in front of me before i lost the hook can say it was a certain double if not larger.

Hi,

I was wandering round - as you do - and noticed your piece on 'best coarse fishing books'. Recognising some of my favourites there (Yates and Venables) imagine my surprise when my own book appeared at the bottom of the list. Thanks for the plug.

cheers
