Norfolk Fishing Holidays

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

I am always keen to promote Norfolk as a top fishing location in the UK, whether you are a coarse, fly or sea angler.

What many people are not aware of, are the great holiday destinations in Norfolk specifically targeted for the keen Angler who wants to go fishing while on holiday. There is a wide gamut of available holiday accommodation to enjoy while taking your break. From cottages and lodges to caravans and camping.

When I was a kid Dad would always manage to squeeze in a couple of rods down the side of the Morris Marina, and stuff some reels under the spare tyre. When holidaying with a family of 5 every spare inch was needed, and he did not believe in roof racks or trailers! The car was so laden down so much some times the mud flaps would catch on the road if there was a slight bump…oh happy days!

My very own fishing lake???

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I am very fortunate to own an old Farmhouse that comes with a few acres of land, enough in fact to one day maybe dig and create my very own fishing lake! Now how cool would that be!! Surely every Anglers dream - to own his own fishing lake.

The question is, I wonder what I would stock it with…I love Tench, but Carp have a place to, and I also like Pike and Perch…I wonder if my dream will ever become a reality!!??

What would you stock?

Thoughts turn to fishing - Reel Life

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Well it has certainly been a while! Sorry that the blog has been pushed to the back-burner for so long, and it’s great to see some comments from you all. Life has been a little hectic having finally managed to move into a farmhouse we have been renovating - which you can see at www.waterloo-farm.co.uk

However, I have managed to catch a couple of ‘A Passion for Angling‘ fishing shows and with the lighter evenings and brighter mornings I am twitching to get back by the bank side.

I am really not sure when that might be, I need to purchase a rod license first, which brings me onto a plug for the Environment Agency. I received a great email from them a couple of weeks ago, it was the Spring Edition of ‘Reel Life‘. I was very impressed the professionalism of the email, and also the excellent content and material in articles it was promoting. I shall add a couple of blogs about those in due course.

However, in thoughts of turning back to the bank, I would really like to find a venue within a 15-20 minute drive where I can find some decent Tench fishing. I wonder if there is anyone out there who can recommend any?

Cheers, Nigel

Pike Season in Norfolk - Best Guide To Modern Pike Fishing Book

Monday, November 10th, 2008

It has been a while, and the long summer evenings are well and truly gone! Now it’s time for me to dust off the pike fishing gear and seek out my brother. We went pike fishing a couple of times a few years ago and had a riot, visiting some old haunts.

A book I shall be placing an order for to help me this year is the new Fox Guide To Modern Pike Fishing Book. Mick Brown the piking guru has contributed, so it is bound to be a good read.

Wish me all the best as I head out into the cold and rain!

Ok, a first for this Fishing life blog - video!!

I cannot vouch for the quality or content - but apparently this is Fen Fishery near Mulbarton. They looked like they were having fun anyway! Also I have never hear of this fishery so another one to add to the list.
