Pike Season in Norfolk - Best Guide To Modern Pike Fishing Book

Monday, November 10th, 2008

It has been a while, and the long summer evenings are well and truly gone! Now it’s time for me to dust off the pike fishing gear and seek out my brother. We went pike fishing a couple of times a few years ago and had a riot, visiting some old haunts.

A book I shall be placing an order for to help me this year is the new Fox Guide To Modern Pike Fishing Book. Mick Brown the piking guru has contributed, so it is bound to be a good read.

Wish me all the best as I head out into the cold and rain!

Ok, a first for this Fishing life blog - video!!

Fishing Life Comments and Contributions

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Just a short note tonight to say it has been great to get some comments and questions from visitors to the site. It is excellent to see other people start to share the fishing successes, failures, questions and experience about fishing in Norfolk. I would encourage everyone who visits the site to share their views and comments as it will really add to the value of the site for everyone else - especially me who still has so much to learn!

The Greater Rod Race

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

As many of you who regularly read my fishing blog will know I am quite a fan of TV fishing programs.  I recently discovered ‘The Greater Rod Race’ by Mick Hayes and Mick Brown. These two characters just have me in stitches as they fight their way through all challenges to achieve the fishing goals.

Their combination of characters and styles are really complimentary and I think they are a very successful fishing double act. The ‘Two Ronnies’ of the fishing world. Keep it up lads, you have incentivised me to return to the bank, and when I cannot be there I can enjoy the fact you are.

The Glorious 16th - Coarse Fishing Season Starts!

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Well, what a day! My very good friends had their first baby today and my wife and I are really happy and pleased for them. What is also good, is that I will never forget their babies birthday as it falls on June 16th, the official start of the coarse fishing season, at least for rivers.

I can remember sitting at Ringland Lakes at the stroke of midnight and casting the first bait of the new season, magical moments and memories that will always stay with me.

While the close season is not followed on most lakes, I often think that it’s a shame, as the sense of anticipation of the 16th is now lost.

But, the memories of the 16th still linger, and for many who only fish rivers, I am sure it must still be a really special day. Just as it will be for our friends!

TV Fishing Fest Finished

Friday, June 6th, 2008

I am sad to report the 24×7 fishing TV fest on Discovery Real Time Extra has finished.

It was great during the month of May to be able to tune in any time and catch a few mins of fishing. I do believe it was partly down to this that I have made it back on to the bank, so I give ‘respect’ to the channel and thank them for the nudge to stop watching and start fishing!
