Swangey Lakes and Kingfisher Lake

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Swangey Lakes near Attleborough seems to be a permanent fixture in the local angling news, producing another recent Mirror Carp of over 30lb! This fishery is very close to where I live, so I must give it a try.

Another fishery often in the news is the Kingfisher Lake at Lyng. This has produced a HUGE 36lb 10oz Mirror Carp to a local angler from Felthorpe. These fish must be enormous!

Respect is due to Steve Ridgeon’s huge Carp

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

HUGE can only be the word used to describe Steve’s Common Carp, weighing in at 44lb!

The monster was caught at Waveney Valley Lakes, and a lovely touch to the story is the fishery Manager, Dave Potter said he thought the fish had died or had been poached as it had not been caught for sometime. I have had spirited fights from Carp at 5lb, so I can understand why it would have taken 30mins to land it.

Apparently the fish was caught on a Nash boilie in the Yew Tree Lake. My personal best Common Carp is 5lb at the moment, and I am more than happy with that! But you never know…

24×7 Fishing TV Programmes in May 2008

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

OK, I appreciate we are now well into May, but better late than never! Discovery Real Time Extra, for the whole month of May, is showing fishing programmes 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. It was partly this non-stop fishing marathon that has encouraged me to get back on to the bank side.

There are some real classics on here like ‘Go Fishing’ and some new ones like ‘The Greater Rod Race’!

I know I can get Discovery Real Time Extra on channel 252, not sure if it is available on other providers.
