Your Money, Your Fishing Licence Video

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I am very impressed with the Environment Agency video concerning where Licence Fee money goes to.

If you have not seen this yet, you can view it here: http://www.onlinefishing.tv/channel/feature/your-licence-your-money/low/

I didn’t know this was where it all went!

Swangey Lakes Fishing Well - Advice Wanted

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

I read with interest that Swangey Lakes is fishing well, this is one venue I would really like to try out. Has anyone got any experience of the place they would like to share?

My interest would only be an evening session at best, so no camping out for days on end for me.

Marsh Trail Lakes

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Reading my local press it appears the Waveney Valley is performing well once again. In particular this time Marsh Trail Lakes. While this might strictly speaking be in Suffolk, I am keen to support my neighbouring county as well! :)

Made up of 4 lakes, A,B,C and not surprisingly D, all four are presenting anglers with rewarding nets and for only £7 per day it is well worth a visit. For more information contact David Ragan on 07913 115 610 or buy your tickets from Angling Direct.

Thoughts turn to fishing - Reel Life

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Well it has certainly been a while! Sorry that the blog has been pushed to the back-burner for so long, and it’s great to see some comments from you all. Life has been a little hectic having finally managed to move into a farmhouse we have been renovating - which you can see at www.waterloo-farm.co.uk

However, I have managed to catch a couple of ‘A Passion for Angling‘ fishing shows and with the lighter evenings and brighter mornings I am twitching to get back by the bank side.

I am really not sure when that might be, I need to purchase a rod license first, which brings me onto a plug for the Environment Agency. I received a great email from them a couple of weeks ago, it was the Spring Edition of ‘Reel Life‘. I was very impressed the professionalism of the email, and also the excellent content and material in articles it was promoting. I shall add a couple of blogs about those in due course.

However, in thoughts of turning back to the bank, I would really like to find a venue within a 15-20 minute drive where I can find some decent Tench fishing. I wonder if there is anyone out there who can recommend any?

Cheers, Nigel

The Complete Rods is Hysterical!

Friday, November 7th, 2008

OK, I got this random email from Mark’s Aunty Ruth promoting The Complete Rods CD - and I have to admit, this is rather hilarious!! Check out their website for some musical fishing fun, and enjoy their spoof advert for Waders of Fire, on the Videos below.

Yew Tree Lake - New Waveney Valley Carp Record

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

BIG congratulations to Chris Hawkins a keen Norfolk angler who has just beaten the Yew Tree Lake record by landing a 44lb 5oz Common Carp!

It was caught on a squid flavoured boilie, which sounds pretty grim to me, but clearly the Carp loved it. As if the record was not enough, Chris also went on to land other Carp to 25lb. Maybe one day for me I will break the 10lb barrier, let alone the 20, 30 and 40!!

Taswood Lakes Record Ghost Carp?

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Could Taswood Lakes in Flordon hold the future record Ghost Carp? It certainly looks likely as the unnamed ‘ghostie’ was caught again recently at 38lb 8oz, and the fishery boss Richard Ellis reckoned it should break the 40lb barrier! Now that is one scary fish… You can find out more details for Taswood Lakes here.
