The Complete Rods is Hysterical!

Friday, November 7th, 2008

OK, I got this random email from Mark’s Aunty Ruth promoting The Complete Rods CD - and I have to admit, this is rather hilarious!! Check out their website for some musical fishing fun, and enjoy their spoof advert for Waders of Fire, on the Videos below.

Yew Tree Lake - New Waveney Valley Carp Record

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

BIG congratulations to Chris Hawkins a keen Norfolk angler who has just beaten the Yew Tree Lake record by landing a 44lb 5oz Common Carp!

It was caught on a squid flavoured boilie, which sounds pretty grim to me, but clearly the Carp loved it. As if the record was not enough, Chris also went on to land other Carp to 25lb. Maybe one day for me I will break the 10lb barrier, let alone the 20, 30 and 40!!

Taswood Lakes Record Ghost Carp?

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Could Taswood Lakes in Flordon hold the future record Ghost Carp? It certainly looks likely as the unnamed ‘ghostie’ was caught again recently at 38lb 8oz, and the fishery boss Richard Ellis reckoned it should break the 40lb barrier! Now that is one scary fish… You can find out more details for Taswood Lakes here.

Cobble Acre Lakes has just seen its biggest catfish caught to one very lucky holiday maker.  Weighing in at 35lbs this beats the previous venue record. Now that is something to write on a postcard home!

Good news for The River Thurne, Hickling Broad and Horsey Mere

Friday, July 25th, 2008

A huge relief for The River Thurne, Hickling Broad, Horsey Mere and also the two Martham Broads as they are not at the moment affected by the deadly algae prymnesium.

Thankfully levels are still below those which can cause a threat to fish stocks yet the situation is being monitored. Local anglers can help and anyone who spots dead, dying or distressed fish are asked to call the Environment Agency emergency line on 0800 80 70 60 as soon as they can.

Great Start at Blickling Lake

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

It sounds like the re-opening of the new season for Blickling Lake has been a great success for anglers, with Bream nearly on every cast. One of the bailiffs said he had never seen so many fish coming out.  Blickling Lake is a beautiful estate lake located under the watchful eye of The National Trust Blickling Hall.

I shall try to add this to the venues list when I get a moment.

Layfields Lakes Day Ticket Fishing in Lenwade

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

It’s great to hear of yet another brand new fishery opening in Norfolk, Layfields Lakes in Lenwade. It is a new complex and is owned by Darren Layfield. Oak Lake tickets cost £10 allowing anglers to fish for 12 hours using two rods. If you wish to fish overnight you will need a 24-hour ticket costing £20. Other lakes are work in progress.

There is another lake on the complex, but this is being run as a syndicate. If you want more details you can contact Darren Layfield on 07917 197 846.
