Date Set for Return to Fishing!

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Just a quick post to say it looks like a date has been set for my return to coarse fishing in Norfolk! Work and weather permitting…I can sense a personal drum roll here…I am hoping to fish Walnut Farm Fisheries on Wednesday 28th May in the evening. That’s only 5 days away!

I have a few things to prepare before then like tie some more hair rigs etc, however I did visit JMP Tackle in Attleborough today and stocked up on a couple of items, but I shall write more about that when I get the chance.

What is great is that a date is hopefuly set, fishing here I come!

24×7 Fishing TV Programmes in May 2008

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

OK, I appreciate we are now well into May, but better late than never! Discovery Real Time Extra, for the whole month of May, is showing fishing programmes 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. It was partly this non-stop fishing marathon that has encouraged me to get back on to the bank side.

There are some real classics on here like ‘Go Fishing’ and some new ones like ‘The Greater Rod Race’!

I know I can get Discovery Real Time Extra on channel 252, not sure if it is available on other providers.

Tackle Shop Found - JMP Tackle Attleborough

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

I wanted to find a fishing tackle shop close to home, and I was pleased to find that JMP Tackle in Attleborough is still trading, well at least according to the various online searches. They don’t appear to have a website, but I do seem to recall dropping in once before many years ago. It was not a massive fishing outlet then, but it may have changed in the intervening years. I only need some fresh bait and maybe some PVA and I am sure they will have that.

I shall let you know how I get on. I will take some pictures and even write a ‘formal’ review of the first ‘Norfolk Tackle Shop’ to appear on Norfolk Fishing Life. (That will only leave me another 30+ to review…)

Tackle Box Inspection

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Old Hair Rigged BoilieWell I finally got a chance to have a better investigation of the tackle box tonight - it’s in a bit of a sorry and disorganised state.

There was even a disintegrating boilie still hair rigged from my last trip, it may even have been the one that caught my last Tench!

Another Step Closer to Fishing

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Perch Bobber FloatWell at last my fishing gear is home safe and sound. I managed it all in one trip, despite forgetting to take out the 3-wheeler push chair in the boot of the car!

I have not had time to check it all out, but I could not resist sneaking a quick look in the tackle box, especially at the random collection of multi-coloured floats and various tips etc. hiding in the old cut-film box.

I am going to be busy the next couple of nights, but I am hoping to check out the full state of it in more detail later in the week. I can’t wait!

The bank side is getting closer…

The Fishing Gear is Coming Home!

Monday, May 19th, 2008

This has to be one of the last steps in my attempts to get back to a Fishing Life in Norfolk - getting my tackle! (Always useful I hear you say…)

For those of you following my blog/journal, you will know that it is currently safely stored up in my in-laws loft, and it really is too long a story to share why.

The River Tiffey Shoal of Fish

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

It was a lovely afternoon, and after preaching this morning at Wymondham Baptist Church, it was great to get out and get some fresh Norfolk air! (Though maybe a little fresher than I would have liked.)

We have a great family walk we call the ‘lollipop walk’, named so because if you traced the route on a map it looks like a lollipop. What is nice is that we can let all the kids pretty much roam free, including our 3 year old, as there are no busy roads and it is mostly along footpaths alongside fields.
