It has been a while, and the long summer evenings are well and truly gone! Now it’s time for me to dust off the pike fishing gear and seek out my brother. We went pike fishing a couple of times a few years ago and had a riot, visiting some old haunts.
A book I shall be placing an order for to help me this year is the new Fox Guide To Modern Pike Fishing Book. Mick Brown the piking guru has contributed, so it is bound to be a good read.
Wish me all the best as I head out into the cold and rain!
The pike get big up there on the Broads, don’t they? The biggest pike I’ve had is 18lb. Your fishing blog serves a valuable purpose and is well targeted for the fishing fans of Norfolk….
Thanks for the feedback Lee! Also a great size pike, beats mine by 10lb!
Hi, I am visiting the broads on a canal boat holiday and bringing my carp fishing tackle (dont let the wife know) in the hope of dabling for a pB pike. does anyone have a list of local tackle shops for bait?
Oh, also can anyone give tips or tacktics wiorth trying? Im normally a carp angler.
I think you get it s lucky, Im from Northern ireland and the foriegners are killing our pike population, I even caught a farmer cataching pike in a lobster net type thing and taking them out of the lake because he didn’t want the foriegn people in his fields.. I’m not sure why he would do this but probably something to do with his old traditional beliefs.
The broads are excellent Pike waters, and most people tend to fish for them from a boat. You can hire all types of boat on the broads from rowing boats upto larger power boats. Wroxham is an excellent area to stay if you want to be close to the river with access to the broads and nearby boat hire.
