Quite slot of questions about Walnut here. I have been fishing it on and off for about 5 years. Itis a great little water for beginners. By far the most successful method is surface fishing. I tend to use dog biscuits. I dint even bother with controllers. The fish will take so close in that there is no need. I freeline a soaked biscuit or use a baitband for hard ones. With this method you can clean up on the canal or lake. I frequently top 100+ of carp and nearly always catch a couple of doubles. The fish look a bit worse for wear and the venue is not particularly attractive but there is no doubt that if you want lots of easy carp 5-15lb then this is the place to go

Hi Tracy!

That's great news - well done! As I am always keen to learn more, which lake did you fish on and how did you catch them and what bait did you use?

Cheers, Nigel

Hi Liam,

Sorry for the slow response. I have only caught fish on The Canal, and the biggest so far is an 7-8lb Carp. If you can take them off the surface the avergae is probably 5-7lb. I think there are bigger in there, and I have been snapped off...yes, people do use floating bread and have some suucess, however the Chub tend to gobble it up pretty quick and a lot of the smaller Silver Fish. I tend to use floating pellets as they last longer than bread and the smaller fish cannot nip it off, though I am still working out how to hook into and keep them on as they tend to take them and then spit them out very quickly. Hope this helps!!

Anyone else have any advice?

Cheers, Nigel
