Tackle Box Inspection

Old Hair Rigged BoilieWell I finally got a chance to have a better investigation of the tackle box tonight – it’s in a bit of a sorry and disorganised state.

There was even a disintegrating boilie still hair rigged from my last trip, it may even have been the one that caught my last Tench!

However, it was not all bad news and on the whole it all looked pretty intact and ‘ready to go’. I will need to tie some new hair rigs, and that will mean reminding myself how to do it, as I was never the most adept at fishing knots. I will also need to check out what other hooks are actually inside the sleeves as I intend to do some good old float fishing for silver fish which certainly won’t require hair rigging. Also I cannot recall what the breaking strain of the line is on the various spools, so I shall have to dig around for the bulk spools in another box for that information.

Fishing Floats CloseupIt was a bit of a walk through memory lane discovering bits of kit, old reels, floats etc. In a sad way it reminded me of my Dad and our fishing trips together, never to be repeated. However they were poignant and not bad memories and if it were not for him, I would not now be embarking on this journey back into fishing now.

I noticed that PVA, in both bag and mesh format appear to be the ‘in-thing’ for Carp fisherman and others, and it is something I would be keen to try. So there are a few items I will need to buy before I can return to the bank, so now I need to find a fishing tackle shop, and ideally one that is close to home. Next stop…tackle shop!
