James Pond - licence to fish

Woo hoo - the rod licence is in the bag! I am officially once again licenced to fish. The online ordering process available from the Environment Agency website was really simple and certainly beats queuing in a Post Office.
I purchased a 12 month rod licence for a total cost of £25. I did think about only getting ‘one day’ licences each time I go fishing, especially as I am not yet sure of where I will be able to find the time to go fishing at all! However, my basic maths worked out the following:
- If I assumed I went fishing once a month for the remainder of the season I would go 11 times
- If I paid for a daily ticket for each of these trips it would cost me 11 x £3.50, a total of £38.50
- Therefore if I go fishing at least 8 times, buying an annual season ticket was the better buy
- It also will encourage me to try and fit in at least 8 fishing trips before the 31st March 2009!
- I tell you, I am scary when I start dealing in numbers…
This is another tick in the fishing box and brings me one step close to dipping my line in the water. (Just as the weather is starting to turn…)
Friendly reminder - it’s ilegal to fish in the UK with a valid Environment Agency rod licence. They do appear to be catching more people and the fines are increasing.

And there was me thinking this post was about the classic Amiga game of the same name.
Think i’ll stick to the day license tbh. Only went twice on that annual ticket i had!
