I am now more than keen to return to fishing, especially after my my close encounters with the Carp at Walnut Farm Fisheries.
However, there are a number of practical reasons still stopping me from doing so. I thought if I listed them it would make it easier to achieve them (also I am a list kind-of-person!):
- Get fishing gear from the in laws loft – should be easy, but there is quite a bit I seem to recall (most of it probably redundant)
- Check fishing tackle is still OK! (It has been in a loft for over 3 years…that’s baked in the summer and frozen in the winter I am guessing that cannot be good for the line etc?)
- Buy some new bait, though I have a feeling there is another journal entry on that one coming up- my bait carrying ruck sack has moved with us and is currently in the garage. However following the recent hot weather there is now a very odd smell emanating from the garage, which intensifies the closer you get to the ruck sack! This is one action I am not looking forward to as Iam dreading what I will find…3 year old boilies…yuk!
- Chose my method – float fishing, ledgering, free-lining…decisions, decisions
- Buy a rod license – at least that one is easy
- Pick a time – this one alone will be the biggest challenge, on my current run rate I might be able to make it to the bank summer 2009!
So there we have it, I think that sums up what at least is currently stopping me from fishing. Not too bad when you look at it like that. However, suddenly fishing from my armchair seems a lot less hassle!
